Victim Selected for Madeira Curtas Film Festival!
We are thrilled to announce that our short film, “Victim”, has been officially selected for the prestigious Madeira Curtas Film Festival!
This is our film’s second festival selection, following its screening at the Vegan Çiftlik Short Film Festival.
“Victim“, a silent drama directed by Bahman Radan and written by Sara Moradi, tells the story of a young boy who attempts to rescue a goat from being sacrificed during Eid al-Adha.
Through its moving narrative, “Victim” challenges viewers to contemplate the tradition of animal sacrifice and consider alternative paths towards compassion and atonement.
Bahman Radan, the film’s director, stated in a press release: “We believe that sacrificing animals in the name of purification and forgiveness does not absolve us of our sins but perpetuates a cycle of violence and suffering. Our intention in making this film was to challenge the normalization of this practice on Eid al-Adha.”
The selection of “Victim” for the Madeira Curtas Film Festival presents a valuable opportunity for the film to reach international audiences and convey its message of peace and compassion to the world.
The Madeira Curtas Film Festival (MC), organized by the Regional Government of Madeira, is a prestigious event dedicated to recognizing and promoting short filmmaking talent.
The 13th edition of the MC invites filmmakers to explore the theme of “Freedom” in their submissions and invites filmmakers to explore this concept through their creative expressions.
The festival will take place on May 8, 2024, and offers a valuable platform for filmmakers to showcase their work and connect with a global audience
