Georgia Becomes the Next Festival Stop for Victim
Victim joined the Tbilisi autumn selection of the fifth Diogenes Short Film Festival in Georgia.
A new country in the film’s festival path
The 2024 edition of Diogenes was organised through separate seasonal programmes in Odesa and Tbilisi. The Tbilisi autumn season ran from 15 to 30 November and brought together fiction, documentary, animation and experimental shorts.
For Victim, the selection added Georgia to a festival route that had already taken the film to programmes in Türkiye, Spain, Italy, Portugal and the United Kingdom. Earlier results included a semifinalist placement at the Human-Environment Care Film Festival and a Distinction Award with a US$300 cash prize at the Three Acts of Goodness International Microfilm Contest.
The two-minute-and-23-second drama follows a boy who resists his father’s decision to sacrifice the family’s goat during Eid al-Adha. The story is built around the child’s attempt to protect an animal he sees as a companion.
