One World is an international human-rights documentary festival organised by People in Need in the Czech Republic. Its programme connects documentary cinema, immersive work, public discussion, school screenings and regional outreach.
OPEN CALL
The 29th One World International Human Rights Film Festival takes place in Prague from 10 to 18 March 2027, with additional festival activity in more than 50 Czech towns and in Brussels.
Founded in 1999 and organised by People in Need, One World is centred on documentary cinema that engages with human rights, democracy and social issues. The festival takes place in Prague and extends to more than 50 towns across the Czech Republic as well as Brussels.
Its programme combines screenings with discussions, school programmes and accessibility work. For filmmakers, selection considers both the human-rights subject and the strength of the film’s cinematic point of view.
The 2027 call offers three distinct submission routes for documentary work.
Feature and mid-length documentaries must run at least 40 minutes.
The festival also accepts documentary VR projects, including interactive work and 360° films.
For younger audiences, the Docs for Kids route accepts short documentaries and animated films with educational potential and human-rights relevance.
Short-form work is submitted through Docs for Kids, while the main documentary route is open to feature and mid-length documentaries from 40 minutes.

One World states that its selection committee gives equal weight to human-rights content and artistic quality.
For filmmakers, this makes cinematic approach central to the submission: the selection looks for clear authorship, a coherent form and a strong relationship between the film’s human-rights subject and the way it is told.
The 2027 programme includes competitive documentary and VR sections together with thematic and family-oriented programming.
