ANNOUNCEMENT
Madeira Curtas is a short-video competition organised through Madeira’s Regional Education Directorate and the EDUCAmedia programme. Its defining rule is simple and demanding: the complete film, including credits, must fit within three minutes. That limit makes rhythm, image, sound and narrative economy central to every entry.
The contest is open to a wide range of forms, including fiction, documentary, interviews, animation and other audiovisual approaches. Each edition is built around a specific theme that filmmakers may interpret freely, but the submitted work must establish a clear connection with it. The rules also place strong emphasis on original or properly cleared image and sound material, making authorship part of the competition’s creative framework.
With roots in the educational community but participation open beyond schools, Madeira Curtas works well for filmmakers who enjoy building a complete idea within a deliberately compressed format.
