ANNOUNCEMENT
The Human-Environment Care Film Festival is a Toronto-area international festival built around the connections between human life, human rights and environmental care. Its programme looks for films that move beyond abstract issues and show how social, psychological, cultural and ecological systems shape everyday experience.
The competition accepts Canadian and international work across short, mid-length and feature formats, including fiction, documentary, animation and experimental film. Short films may run up to thirty minutes, while longer work can enter the main feature-length sections. The 2026 programme is organised around Human–Environment, Environmental Issues, and Humanity and Human Rights, with a special Dance and Joy strand adding movement, resilience and celebration to the thematic field.
HECFF is especially relevant to filmmakers whose work combines social observation with environmental or humanistic concerns and who want those themes to remain central to the way the film is presented and discussed.
