Boğaziçi Film Festivali: national and international cinema in Istanbul

Organised by Boğaziçi Kültür Sanat Vakfı, Boğaziçi Film Festivali has been held in Istanbul since 2013. Its programme brings together national and international feature films, short films and documentary work, with separate competition routes for different types of production.

The festival’s structure gives Turkish productions and international films their own competition spaces. Alongside the feature and short-film sections, the National Documentary Film Competition creates a dedicated route for documentaries produced in Türkiye.

Boğaziçi Film Festivali 2026

The 14th edition will take place in Istanbul from 8 to 15 November 2026. The 2026 competition call includes National Feature Film, International Feature Film, National Short Film, International Short Film and National Documentary Film competitions. The final submission deadline is 15 September 2026.

Which films can enter?

The National Feature Film Competition is open to Türkiye-produced feature films completed after 1 January 2025. The National Documentary Film Competition accepts documentaries produced in Türkiye and, in the current call announcement, is presented without a runtime ceiling.

National and international short films enter through separate competition routes, while international feature films have their own section. Each category has its own current regulation, so the competition route should match the film’s production origin and format.

What should be ready for submission?

The application process requires the film’s core project information and an online screener. Selected films may later be asked for additional screening, catalogue and publicity materials under the relevant competition regulation.

For filmmakers planning a wider festival route, the useful first step is to place the film in the correct Boğaziçi competition section and prepare the screener and presentation materials around that route. AD1 FILM can support festival targeting, submission planning, application coordination and EPK / festival-material preparation according to the film’s current stage.
