AVA Selected for the Alexandria Documentary Competition
AVA, directed by Mohammad Hossein Bagherifard, joined the Documentary Competition of the 12th International Alexandria Short Film Festival in Greece.
The documentary’s first confirmed international selection
The festival communicated the result on 20 July 2026. Its 12th edition is scheduled for 13–19 September 2026 in Alexandria, Imathia. At the time of publication, the film’s exact screening date, time and venue had not been announced.
The verified status is Official Selection in the Documentary Competition.
A film grounded in everyday work
AVA follows Ava Kiyani at work as a carpenter in Iran. The documentary stays close to the workshop, observing the physical demands of the profession and the social expectations surrounding a woman who continues in a field widely considered male territory.
Mohammad Hossein Bagherifard wrote, directed and produced the film. Cinematography is by Mohammad Javad Mazrouei, with editing and colour grading by Rasoul Sabouri. Worldwide distribution is handled by AD1 FILM.
